At NiV, we believe in the power of connection, creativity, and collaboration to drive meaningful change. That’s why we are excited to welcome Mairo Ahmadu, a HerStart Research and Learning Fellow, to our family here in Tamale, Ghana.
Mairo joins us from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, bringing with her a wealth of experience as a mental health therapist, researcher, and creative writer. A proud Nigerian-born advocate, Mairo is the voice behind Spillage, a blog that unapologetically explores life’s raw, real, and beautiful complexities.
With a background in mental health and academic research, she has made significant contributions to community-centered projects and peer-reviewed publications. Her work promotes well-being among BIPOC communities, and she is passionate about creating inclusive spaces where individuals are empowered to thrive.
Through the HerStart fellowship, an initiative by Youth Challenge International (YCI), Mairo sees a unique opportunity to extend her impact globally. She is eager to immerse herself in NiV’s mission, learn from our local context, and collaborate with our team to develop innovative, community-driven solutions.
As a fellow committed to research and continuous learning, Mairo will support NiV’s programs with valuable insights and a fresh perspective, strengthening our efforts in social enterprise development, youth empowerment, and sustainable community growth.
