The journey to sustainable livelihoods is not a sprint. It’s a process of learning, growth, and transformation. And for 25 young people from Gbalahi, Wovoguma, Wovogu, Gbrima, and Tamale, that journey is reaching a powerful milestone.
The YES Phase II Project was designed to empower marginalized youth aged 10–24 in the Sagnarigu Municipality and Tamale Metropolis by equipping them with relevant, income-generating skills. Through practical training in Catering Services, Poultry Rearing, Shea Butter production, and Cosmetics Production, participants were supported to not only learn a trade but to grow in confidence, purpose, and independence.
Over the past months, these young changemakers have completed intensive theoretical and hands-on sessions. They have learned how to bake, produce shea butter, rear poultry, and produce locally made soaps, pomades, and body care products, skills they can immediately apply to earn income or start small businesses. But more than that, they have learned how to show up, take initiative, and believe in their own potential.
Training facilitators, community leaders, and dedicated mentors have walked with them every step of the way. From sourcing materials to practicing food hygiene to packaging beauty products, the work was as rigorous as it was rewarding. Not forgetting our donor, Empower – The Emerging Markets for supporting this initiative.
This graduation is not just about individual achievement. It’s about what’s possible when communities invest in their youth. Parents, trainers, local leaders, and stakeholders have all contributed to building this moment. Their support laid the foundation for a new generation of skilled, confident, and capable young people.
As we prepare to celebrate the accomplishments of our 25 graduates, we also look to the future with hope. These young people are not just recipients of training, they are creators of change, role models for their peers, and contributors to their families and local economies.
We invite you to join us as we celebrate this powerful milestone:
