The HerStart: Innovate the Future is an initiative co-designed and co- implemented with Youth Challenge International (YCI), with the goal to foster and create innovative solutions among young women for over 7-years for a more equitable and prosperous economy within Ghana Zanzibar and Uganda. In Ghana, the project is co-implemented with Norsaac & NiV and Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) located in Tamale (Northern Region) and Bolga (Upper East Region) respectively. HerStart aims to build an enabling environment for social innovation and women’s social enterprise development, while increasing awareness of and support for social ventures. At the core of this social enterprise model is harnessing the power and potential of youth, especially young women, to realize gender equality and sustainable economic development. HerStart is currently and expected deliver training and business development services to over 3000 young women and invest over $350,000 directly in 70 young women-led social ventures.
